Celebrate the Arts at First Night!

Saranac Lake is a community that is surrounded by the art of nature and filled with the art created by our residents. One of the biggest celebrations of the year is First Night - welcome in 2014 by attending some of these events.

Check out the First Night web site for the full schedule and list of venues - you can to buy a button in advance for $12 or that night for $15 - it gets you into all the family friendly concerts and performances, and there is quite a variety.

There will be a "drop ball" for the countdown to midnight and then fireworks over Lake Flower.

Don't miss it!

One Week to Go....

We have our snow, it's maybe a little colder than we would prefer, and it's just a week until Christmas eve. Many of our galleries have already had their opening receptions, but shows are still up and on display with plenty of unique works of art perfect for holiday gift-giving! A number of our members had "Open Houses" in their studios, but most would still be happy to invite you in to see their works, if you call ahead of time. Check our home page schedule or visit our members page. Shop Local!

There are three Juried Shows coming up that might be of interest. Bluseed is hosting their second annual "Abstraction" Show. Entries are due Jan 16-18 and you can find the prospectus HERE.

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is hosting "Phone Art", with work due to be dropped off the first week in January. No one has any idea of what they are looking for - so be creative and go for it!

The Schweinfurth Art Center, in Auburn, NY, is hosting their annual "Made In NY" exhibit with a registration deadline of Jan 20, 2014.

If you know of other exhibits, let us know - add a comment! We try to post events and exhibit information under the Classes, Artist Opportunities link on our home page.

ArtWorks is now accepting memberships for 2014 - you can find more information HERE.

Have a safe and artful holiday season......
